JOBS DESCRIPTION:

Business strategy and development:
  • Work with the CEO and senior management on the strategic vision including fostering and cultivating stakeholder relationships at all levels.
  • Assist CEO in identifying new business opportunities by projecting acquisition and expansion prospects.
  • Develop and articulate strategic plans for the lending team to deliver top down targets flowing from the overall Bank strategic plan.
  • Develop internal workflow and assist in development of credit policy and operating manual.
  • Participate in key decision-making.

Management, planning & forecasting:
  • Direct and oversee all aspects of the business banking functions of the Bank including:

Business Banking:
  • Prepare budget for the business banking department.
  • Achieve pre-determined business objectives in growth of lending assets.
  • Cost management, for the entire business unit.
  • Manage, coach, and lead the credit sales teams.
  • Drive and support adequate training on lending products, services and principles to ensure all new and existing staff are adequately aware of their risk management and compliance requirements and knowledge is assessed.
  • Ensure the design, measurement and reporting of risk management KPIs for all staff.
  • Identify and define target market for lending business and look for cross-selling opportunities.
  • Working closely with other heads of department and branch managers to grow sales of the Bank’s lending products through direct sales and referrals.
  • Conduct preliminary screening interview for borrowing customers and make a sound credit decision on each credit request before submitting to Credit Committee.
  • Prepare and/or review loan application and credit proposal and to appropriately feedback and change to relationship manager before the submission to the Credit Committee and/or the Board for approval.
  • Conduct site visit to fully understand the collateral property/ies, customer’s business and development/construction project/s when necessary.
  • Ensure that all financial and non-financial information and documents provided by customer are accurate, reliable, and sufficient for credit and risk assessment and sound credit decision.
  • Liaise with independent property valuer for property valuation as and when required.
  •  Conduct due diligence and perform credit analysis based on credit principles and policy.
  • Exercise ongoing vigilance for early signs of credit quality deterioration and take appropriate action where necessary.
  • Ensure that post-approval loan process is carried out in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Prepare regular loan pipeline report and submit regularly to CEO.
  • Develop strategic lending revenue plans for the credit department and staff.
  • Conduct regular meeting with credit staff to share ideas, concern, challenges and experiences.
  • Study, analyze and report on trends, opportunities for expansion and projection of future growth of the Bank.

Credit Administration and Management:
  • Ensure that the security documentations are perfected to protect the bank’s interest before loans are released.
  • Supervise the team to ensure accurately and timely submission of reports to regulators.
  • Actively manage NPL, SMA & Watchlist accounts for recovery, early detection of vulnerable credits, collection & prevention of deterioration of Asset Quality.
  • Ensure the terms & conditions imposed by Credit Committee are complied with.
  • Ensure proper safekeeping of collaterals/ loan documents.
  • Manage, motivate and groom the team for career advancement & succession through-on-the-job training and courses. Liaise with   CEO and panel lawyer(s) in handling NPL accounts.
  • Liaise with branches and other departments on relevant documentation / administration / remedial / reports etc.
  • Update Credit Manual where appropriate and on timely basis.

JOB REQUIREMENT:
  • Holding a bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field.
  • At least 5 years of banking experience in business banking and credit environment.
  • Very good problem solving and negotiation skills.
  • Very good communication in English.
  • Inter-cultural sensitivity and awareness.
  • Flexible with the ability to assimilate quickly into a demanding role/environment.
  • A willingness to operate in a complex, matrix environment with multiple, often conflicting demands.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence outcomes.
  • Ability to think laterally.
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to manage diverse groups of staff with flexibility, innovation and diplomacy.
  • Proven experience with budget/forecasting and financial reporting processes.
  • Demonstrated project management experience.
  • Proven ability to establish credibility and maintain and develop good business relationships with high profile suppliers and customers.
  • Ability to understand loan management.
  • Able to work with internal team, third parties and regulators.
